This event is geared to bring an introduction Indian classical dance form of Bharatanatyam. We are opening this especially to veterans groups of the Salt Lake valley. The event is open and all are welcome!
Bharatanatyam is a South Indian classical genre of dance, universally recognized for the grounded geometry of its precise pure technique and extensive narrative vocabulary.
This event opens with a short musical presentation on the Veena by Keshav Sainath-Iyengar, followed by a repertoire of brisk dance pieces by Nitya Nritya Dance Ensemble.
The pieces are designed specifically to invite viewers into the rich storytelling possibilities of the art form.
To conclude the event, we invite the audience to step onto the floor with us for an interactive, hands-on movement workshop geared toward the universal art of storytelling through dance.
