Little Sparks

Time: 7:00 – 7:30 pm

Little Sparks is an ensemble of young dance and music talent from the Salt Lake valley. The ensemble is directed by world renowned Veena Guru and educator Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian in collaboration with Nitya Nritya Dance Company.

Time: 7:40 – 9:40 pm

A Carnatic music concert on the violin by the unorthodox violin Maestro Purnaprajna Bangere accompanied on the Tabla by Amit Kavthekar.

Run-time: 2 hours and 40 minutes including a 10 minute intermission.

Samāgama – Music and Dance Ensemble

Samāgama or Confluence is a collaborative ensemble under direction of Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramanian, Nitya Nritya Dance Company dancers and Salt Lake based musicians, visiting musician Hamsa Raghuvir from the Bay Area and Dr. David Nelson from Connecticut.

Kitturu Rani Chennamma

Time: 5:00 – 5:15 pm

Kitturu Rani Chennamma is a solo Bharatanatyam dance performance by Jyothsna Sainath. This is the premier of an original dance production on the early 19th century queen of the principality of Kitturu, situated in the modern Indian state of Karnataka. Queen Chennamma led one of the earliest armed resistances to British colonial growth in India in the face of great personal loss and tragedy. This will be preceded by a pre-show talk by Dr. Ganga Srinivas.

Runtime: 4 hours and 15 minutes including two intermissions of 15 minutes each.
